'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're all right and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
